When Jamie first arrived at Key in October 2023, he faced the same challenge many young people do: stepping into the unknown. Moving into supported accommodation was a big change, and at first, Jamie found it difficult to settle. But with encouragement and steady support from staff, he began to believe in himself and take positive steps forward.
Over time, Jamie grew more confident in managing his finances, taking care of his home, and planning for his future. With guidance from our Employability Coach, he explored different opportunities and discovered his drive to work. Just eight months later, he felt ready for the next chapter, securing his very own property with South Tyneside Homes.
The transition to independent living wasn’t easy. At first, the responsibility felt overwhelming. But Jamie’s determination, combined with the ongoing support of our Resettlement and Retainment Team, helped him push through those challenges. He focused on his goals, tried out new training opportunities, and eventually found stable employment in a warehouse role, a job he still enjoys today.
Now, Jamie is not only managing his home but thriving in it. His journey is a true reflection of resilience, growth, and the power of having the right support at the right time.
Support Worker Reflection
Chelsea Glenn, Resettlement & Retainment Officer
“Working with Jamie has been an absolute pleasure. The progress he has made is inspiring, and his enthusiasm for work and making his house a home is admirable. Jamie is now ready for fully independent living, and we couldn’t be prouder of all he has achieved.”
