Help for families this Christmas

Our KEY2Life Foodbank is once again joining forces with South Tyneside Council to deliver the Holiday Activities and Food programme (HAF) and Winter Holiday Club to make sure families stay fed and entertained over the winter holidays.

There are free activities and nutritious meals available for children and young people in South Tyneside (age 5-16) who are eligible for benefits related free school meals or who are part of a family currently experiencing hardship.

KEY2Life will be providing free winter warmer food packs which can be requested by firstly completing the online referral form, then following up by giving the foodbank a call on 07833613393 or getting in touch by DM to their Facebook page.

The winter warmer food packs will consist of a ‘recipe box’ of 5 nutritious and quick meals to make, enough to cater for 4 people, along with recipe cards which you can also download here; plus a few essential staples and a couple of treats on top.

To ensure that children of struggling families get the same opportunities as everyone else, KEY2Life will also be providing some extra holiday fun in the form of free family arts and craft packs to keep the kids entertained over the holidays – included with food packs while stocks last.

For more information about Winter Holiday Club activities, and to book, visit: www.southtyneside.gov.uk/holidayclub. All events are subject to availability and COVID restrictions. Booking is essential. Activities and food are funded by the Department for Education.

The Leadership at South Tyneside Council has identified support for families and more vulnerable communities as one of its key priorities.
