South Tyneside charity Key is teaming up with local community interest company The Rise of SHE, a movement dedicated to guiding women and girls through life’s transformative journeys, to make free period products available at its Key to Life Foodbank and on board its Key Community Bus.
Period poverty continues to affect thousands of individuals across the UK, limiting access to essential hygiene products and disproportionately impacting vulnerable and low-income communities.
This collaboration aims to reduce stigma, promote dignity, and ensure that no one has to choose between food and period products.
To access a free period pack, available without barriers or embarrassment, at either Key venue, simply ‘Ask for Flo’– no questions asked. You do not have to explain your circumstances to be able to access products.
Marie Burnett, poverty prevention team leader at Key said: “We believe access to period products is a basic human right. No one should ever feel ashamed or helpless because they can’t afford period products. Our partnership with The Rise of SHE brings hope, dignity, and practical help to those in need.”
