David Traynor

David is a solicitor with considerable experience working in the social housing sector. In particular, he worked in the legal section of South Tyneside Council for almost 38 years before spending a brief period at a Housing Association in County Durham. He then returned to local government in his current part-time role as a housing solicitor at Newcastle City Council.

David has a substantial amount of knowledge in most aspects of social housing law, particularly in the areas of general housing management, homelessness, anti-social behaviour and policy and strategy.

“I am excited to be involved with Key and believe my skills and knowledge, built up in a heavily regulated setting, are ideally suited to its core charitable work. My ambition is to help Key further develop as it continues to grow into one of the main providers of social housing for young people in the borough.”

“Having always lived in South Tyneside, I am keen to help young people in my local community; especially those who simply need some extra care, guidance and support so that they can turn their lives around. The prospect of joining the Board of such a dynamic organisation as Key, which is always seeking to improve its offer to the local community, was an opportunity I simply couldn’t resist.”
